Approved Bag for RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide 26612 08-11-28 Page 4 of 7 GENERAL INFORMATION RIDOMIL GOLD 1G is a systemic fungicide for the control of cavity spot in carrots, damping- off or stunt in head lettuce and the control of phytophthora root rot in ginseng. RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide moves into the soil and is readily absorbed through the roots of plants. This provides protection against diseases found in the soil. USE LIMITATIONS Experience has shown that strains of fungus resistant to metalaxyl-M and S-isomer may develop. Failure to control the disease will result in crop damage and/or yield losses. Since the occurrence of resistance cannot be foreseen, Syngenta Canada Inc. accepts no responsibility for any loss of, or damage to, crops resulting from the failure of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide to control the resistant fungi strains. If high levels of disease appear, consult your horticultural specialist immediately. Do not use RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide for disease control in greenhouses. IN FURROW APPLICATION It is important to calibrate each individual granular applicator before use. Even after calibration, check the application rate under actual operating conditions. Application rates can vary due to changing moisture conditions, equipment wear and normal variation in product density and particle size distribution. Calibration: To calibrate a granular applicator, follow the procedure as outlined below:
Fill the hopper with RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide.
Attach a plastic bag to the spout opening.
Refer to the chart provided by the applicator manufacturer and select a setting which will deliver the required amount of product per 100 metres of row at the desired speed.
Measure off 300 metres and drive at the speed selected.
Weigh each bag and divide the weight of each bag by 3 to determine grams/100 metres. Adjust settings as needed to obtain the desired rate and repeat steps 2-5 until the setting delivers the correct number of grams per 100 m.
Repeat steps 1 to 5 for each applicator box.
Conversions:
When calibrating granular applicators, follow the recommendations below: 1.
To reduce granule flow variability, adjust orifice openings by moving the controls in one direction only, such as from the closed position to open.
Granule flow through an orifice is not always proportional to ground speed, so make calibration checks at the same speed you plant and maintain that ground speed as constant as possible when planting.

Granular pesticide products vary considerably in size, density and particle shape, so recalibrate applicators whenever you change brands and/or formulations. The same brand can even change from year to year.
Changing humidity and temperature during the day can change the flow rate of granules through the applicator's orifice. Recalibrate when conditions change and periodically readjust orifice settings to compensate.
Calibrate frequently. There are several acceptable calibration methods. Learn one. Do the arithmetic first, then complete the material collection phase under field conditions.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE CARROTS: Use RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide on carrots for control of cavity spot caused by Pythium spp. Apply RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide in the seed furrow at the rate of 25 kg per treated hectare at the time of planting. Ensure that the product is applied evenly with the seed in the seed furrow. Apply RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide as an in furrow at-plant treatment at the rate of 25 kg per treated hectare. Calculate the amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide to apply per 100 meters of row length by using the following directions:
1. Measure the width of each planter shoe in centimeters.
2. Adjust the granular applicator (see instructions elsewhere on this label) feeding the shoe
to deliver 2.5g of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide per cm of planter shoe width per 100 meters of row length.
Example 1:
If the planter shoe is 18 cm (7 inches) wide adjust the granular applicator to deliver 18 X 2.5 = 45g of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide per 100 meters of row length. Example 2:
If the planter shoe is 10 cm (4 inches) wide adjust the granular applicator to deliver 10 X 2.5 = 25g of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide per 100 meters of row length. Note: The amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide applied per 100 meters of row length is based on the width of the planter shoe, not the number of rows of carrots planted into one planter shoe width. Due to variations in the design of planters and the planting techniques used, the amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide applied per hectare of field will vary widely. Growers can use the following formula to determine the amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide required per hectare of field. width of planter shoe in cm X 25 kg = amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide spacing between rows in cm required to treat one hectare of field.
Approved Bag for RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide 26612 08-11-28 Page 6 of 7 Example 1:
Width of planter shoe = 18cm: Spacing of rows = 36cm Amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide required to treat one hectare of field = 18 X 25 = 12.5 kg 36 Example 2:
Width of planter shoe = 10cm: Spacing of rows = 25cm Amount of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide required to treat one hectare of field = 10 X 25 = 10 kg 25 HEAD LETTUCE: Use RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide in head lettuce for control of damping-off or stunt diseases caused by Pythium spp. Apply RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide in the seed furrow at the rate of 25 kg per treated hectare at the time of planting. Ensure that the product is applied evenly with the seed in the seed furrow. For direct seeded head lettuce, calibrate the applicator to deliver 115 g of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide per 100 metres of row. Do not use on transplanted lettuce. Make only one application per year. COMPATIBILITY: RIDOMIL GOLD 1G FUNGICIDE SHOULD NOT BE MIXED WITH ANY NEMATOCIDE, INSECTICIDE, HERBICIDE, FUNGICIDE, GROWTH REGULATOR, OR FERTILIZER. Approved Bag for RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide 26612 08-11-28 Page 7 of 7 DIRECTIONS FOR USE: GINSENG: Use RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide on ginseng for the control of Phytophthora root rot caused by Phytophthora cactorum. Apply RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide uniformly as a broadcast application, using a suitable granular spreader, to the mulched beds of ginseng. Apply at the rate of 31.25 kg of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide per hectare. Make one application in the spring just prior to the time the plants begin growing. Make a second application six weeks later and a third application six weeks after the second one. Do not apply within 9 days of harvest. Do not make more than 3 applications per year. Do not apply other products containing metalaxyl-M and S-isomer to ginseng. RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
For resistance management, please note that RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide contains a Group 4 fungicide. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide and other Group 4 fungicides. A gradual or total loss of pest control may occur over time if these fungicides are used repeatedly in the same fields. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance management strategies should be followed. To delay fungicide resistance:
Where possible, rotate the use of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide or other Group 4 fungicides with different groups that control the same pathogens. Avoid application of more than 3 (three) consecutive treatments of RIDOMIL GOLD 1G Fungicide or other fungicides in the same group in a season. Fungicide use should be based on an IPM program that includes scouting, historical information related to pesticide use and crop rotation and considers cultural, biological and other chemical control practices. Monitor treated fungal populations for sign of resistance development. If disease continues to progress after treatment with this product, do not increase the use rate. Discontinue use of this product, and switch to another fungicide with a different target site of action, if available. Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors for any additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPM recommendations for specific crops and disease problems in your area. For further information or to report suspected resistance, contact company representatives at 1-87-SYNGENTA (1-877-964-3682) or at RIDOMIL GOLD® is a trademark of a Syngenta Group Company.
