Resource Negotiation And Pricing Protocol
RNAP (Resource Negotiation And Pricing protocol)
One of the earliest protocols developed to facilitate service negotiation
It can be considered an extension of Resource Reservation Protocol.
Characteristics of RNAP
Allow for the negotiation of price of the contracted services
Work with both centralized and distributed implementations of NMs
Employs a soft state approach to negotiation

SrNP (Service Negotiation Protocol)
It is not specific to any particular SLS format
Agree on the value of the features included in the document under
negotiation
SrNP message
Can be encoded in ASCII, basic encoding rules(BER), XML for the stack used
Encapsulate SrNP message in widely deployed protocols such as RSVP, COPS

COPS (Common Open Policy Service)
Distinguishes the interactions between a subscriber and the NM into
two phases : configuration and negotiation
In the Configuration phase, the service provider informs the subscriber
how to request a level of service.
After the configuration phase, the subscriber can start the negotiation
COPS-SLS
An extension of the COPS protocol to negotiate an SLS either between
a network and a customer or two networks

DSNP (Dynamic Service Negotiation Protocol)
It was developed exclusively for dynamic service negotiation.
It is lightweight and better suited to wireless devices such as PDAs
Whenever a mobile subscriber negotiates, the NM disseminates the
QoS profile to edge router
Moving into adjacent networks, it continues to do the negotiated service
without any additional signaling

QoS-NSLP (NSIS Signaling Layer Protocol)
It is a protocol for signaling QoS reservations
It is an extension of RSVP
Its working is quite similar to RNAP
A better fit for distributed settings, not assume the existence of a
centralized resource manager to carry out
NSIS (Next Steps in Signaling)
Be structured in two layers NTLP(NSIS Transport Layer Protocol) and
NSLP (NSIS Signaling Layer Protocol)
Signal protocol with QoS guarantees is not in IP network

QoS-GSLP (Generic Signaling Layer Protocol)
Used for controlling and negotiating bilateral QoS requirements in
mobile and builds on top of NSIS protocol suite
Use knowledge about mobile and traffic patterns to set up in advance
Reduces the SLS setup times for Mobile subscribers
Can be advantageous in a dynamic environment
