Corona Fire handled 30 calls yesterday. 11/28 at 0812 hours, Medical Response- Difficulty Breathing Engine 2 arrived to find a 71 year old female patient on her back having difficulty breathing. The patient had been sick the last day or so and showed signs of shortness of breath. The patient was administered Oxygen, Albuterol and Atrovent with improvement in symptoms. The E2 paramedic continued care while en route to Corona Regional 11/28 at 1111 hours, HazMat - Illegal Dumping – 375 TRM Circle Engine 1 arrived at a report of a spilled liquid in the parking lot at the dispatched address. Simultaneously, Engine 7 responded to a similar report in the area of Dos Lagos and Temescal Canyon Rd. HazMat 4 sampled the material at the 375 TRM Circle and determined that it was consistent with cooking oil. The business at the dispatched address provided video surveillance showing a vehicle dumping product in the parking lot. Ultimately, the spill affected E. Sixth St, Magnolia, Interstate 15 between Magnolia and Dos Lagos/Weirick, and Temescal Canyon Rd. all the way down to Horsethief Canyon where the spill vehicle was located. It had been abandoned there. Public Works handled clean-up on Corona streets. Other affected agencies handled their own clean-up. E1, HM 4, E7, B/C 1, B/C 4, CPD, Public Works, RVC E11, B/C 3114, CHP, CalTrans, County Transportation, and County Health responded. 11/28 at 1539 hours, Heavy Rescue – Main and Harrison A woman, traveling north on Main Street, lost control of her vehicle. It rolled over and trapped her inside. Engine 2 personnel initiated patient care while Ladder 3 extricated the patient using the Jaws of Life. The patient suffered trauma injuries and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital. E2, E6, L3, B/C 1 and AMR responded. “Serving Our City with Pride” CORONA FIRE DEPARTMENT DAILY ACTIVITY 11/28 at 2202 hours, Medical Response- Difficulty Breathing Engine 3 arrived to find a 32 year old female in severe respiratory distress. The patient had shortness of breath for approximately 2 days and was prescribed a steroid to relieve her difficulty. The patient continued to decline in mental status following the administration of Oxygen, Albuterol, and Atrovent nebulized treatment. The patient’s blood oxygen level did increase from 80% to the mid-90’s following medication administration. CFD personnel continued care while en route to Corona Regional with no change in mental status. 11/28 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Contacts recap: • 18 patients were treated. • 14 patients required an ALS assessment. • 5 patients required ALS medication administration by Corona Fire Department Paramedics. • 1 patient received a full cardiac assessment and 12-lead electrocardiogram. • 2 patients required CFD paramedics to continue care en route to the hospital. Non-emergency Activity: The post-incident review (PIR) for the Freeway Incident (shooting) was held. Engine 3 personnel worked on their Breathing Support task books at Station 4.
