Philadelphia VIP receives $7,500 grant from Exelon Generation Philadelphia, PA - Philadelphia VIP, a non-profit legal services agency in Philadelphia, received
a $7,500 grant from Exelon Generation for its Philadelphia LawWorks Project in December of
2009. LawWorks secures pro bono legal assistance for low-income residents in danger of losing
their homes as a result of legal entanglements, as well as pro bono legal assistance for nonprofit organizations and small businesses serving low-income communities. Exelon Generation has been
a longtime supporter of VIP, in conjunction with its commitment to Neighborhood Development.
“We’re very pleased to support the outstanding work of the Philadelphia LawWorks Project, which
is especially needed in these difficult times,” said David Ellsworth, Vice President Fuels for Exelon
The grant from Exelon Generation will help VIP respond to the almost 2,000 requests for services
it received in 2009. "We are proud to partner with Exelon to keep low-income homeowners in
their homes," stated Sara Woods, Executive Director of Philadelphia VIP. "Exelon has a long
history of giving back to the community and their investment will have a direct impact right here
in Philadelphia." VIP will continue to keep low-income homeowners in their homes, reducing the
number of people made homeless through foreclosure and tangled title. VIP will also ensure small business owners’ ability to provide employment opportunities, generate tax revenues and
anchor low-income communities by securing critical pro bono legal services. In addition, with the
grant from Exelon, VIP will help nonprofit organizations, start-up organizations and community
groups pursue projects serving low-income neighborhoods to assist in the development and
