Quilts UK, Malvern 2014 Workshops These workshops run on each day of the Show. Some workshops will overlap so please check the times when making your choice. Workshops can be booked at the Show on a first come, first served basis. Payment should be made by cash only. WORKSHOP 1
11.30 – 1 hour - £7.00 Summer Stitchery with Sadie Yeomans Combine Stitchery and hand appliqué to make a mini wall hanging. All materials supplied and a choice of design. 12.45 – 1 hour - £7.00 Italian Quilting and Trapunto to create 3D Effects with Sylvia Critcher Create a 3D textile surface with trapunto, Italian quilting and my style of French cording. Combine these with English quilting and you will have an interesting design that looks complicated, but is very easy to do. For both beginners and experienced stitchers.
2.00pm – 45 minutes - £6.00 Half Square Triangles with Ann Jermey How to mark and machine stitch the half square triangle unit demonstration. Students will then be able to design and play with this square. Cameras/Ipad would be useful.

11.30am - ¾ hour - Free (registration essential) Creating Hand-Look Needle-Turn Effect Appliqué by Machine with Eileen Blood Eileen wil demonstrate her techniques to produce ‘hand-look needle-turn effect appliqué’ as featured in her original designs. The appliqué is prepared ‘in the hoop’ using an embroidery machine or alternatively with a standard sewing machine. Featuring Eileen’s ‘Echinacea’ CD rom pattern, the demonstration will feature quick and accurate construction methods using modern products and stabilisers.
12.30pm - 1 hour - £7.00 Folded Fabric Origami Flowers with Valeri Bennett Using provided cut out shapes make intricate fabric flowers. Both useful and decorative with many uses. All materials needed will be provided. Several designs shown and instruction sheets provided.
1.45pm - 1 hour - £7.00 Winter Sunset with Claire Tinsley To finish the ‘Seasons’ mini workshops – ‘Winter Sunset’. The gorgeous colours of a winter sunset created by easy marbling. A bonded silhouette completes the winter scene.

11:45pm - 1 ½ hour - £7.00 Hand Quilting – The Basics with Ann Jermey How to start, stitch and stop. Project pack includes quilt sandwich and needle, use of threads, snips, thimbles, hoops and frames during the workshop. Marking methods demonstrated. 1:30pm - 1 hour - £6.00 Cathedral Windows Pin Cushion with Lynne Gormley Using the Cathedral Window technique to make a pin cushion, we will go through how to make the main pieces so you can finish at home. Kit included.

You will produce simple designs with easy techniques, exploring a variety of ways to create a range of fabrics for quilts.
