Dear Parents and carers BREAKING NEWS………………….Tonight’s ‘Friends of Cliffe School’ sporting event has been postponed until September. All current Y6 will be invited to attend…. What a busy last few weeks it has been. The children, although tired, have been working very hard. Enterprise week was a brilliant look at the world of business, and finished with a Dragons den/Apprentice style presentation. The Key Stage Two production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, was terrific and all the children made us proud. Congratulations to Connor, Erin and Fin from Y5, as they won the Selby district cooking competition last week. There have been several cases of Swine Flu in local schools and as of today, we have pupils with flu like symptoms. Currently, Swine Flu is a relatively mild infection and is not a serious risk to most people. Swine Flu is no longer being tested for when individuals present with the symptoms. Individuals who present to GPs with flu symptoms may receive treatment with the medicine Tamiflu. Schools have been instructed not to close and only to inform the Health Protection Agency if there is a significant outbreak amongst pupils and staff of individuals presenting with flu like symptoms. Individuals who are at risk are those with chronic underlying health conditions, for example heart disease or asthma. In addition children under five years or people over sixty five years of age are at risk, especially if they have other health conditions. Pregnant women and diabetics are also considered to be in a high risk category. If there is a significant outbreak at this school we will inform you and at that stage parents and carers may wish to discuss with the school not sending in those children who fall into the vulnerable groups above. For further information and updates, please visit www.hpa.org.uk Many people are looking at the dates for the next academic year, so that trips, holidays and special events can be attended. Please ensure that holiday request forms are completed for all scheduled absences. This includes annual events, such as The Great Yorkshire Show. If in doubt just ask Mrs Collins. To improve communication even further, we have been developing our new website. If you have any comments, or requests to remove photographs, just let me know. www.cliffeprimaryschool.co.uk Finally, may I remind all parents and carers that we break up this Friday after the leavers assembly (around 3.00 -3.15). We return to school on Thursday 3rd September at 9.00. I hope that you all have a fantastic summer and return for another exciting year at Cliffe V.C. Primary school.
